Privacy Policy — PuzzlePace

PuzzlePace is an online jigsaw puzzle game operated from Montréal, Québec, Canada. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

We are a small independent project. Players use PuzzlePace from all over the world. If anything here is unclear, write to hello@puzzlepace.app.

PuzzlePace has designated a person responsible for the protection of personal information. You can reach them at hello@puzzlepace.app.

What we collect

When you create an account

• Your email address
• A display name you choose
• A password, securely stored and managed by our authentication provider. We never see it.

Optional information you can add

• An avatar, an emoji you pick from a list
• A country
• A city or region

All three are optional. You can change or remove them from your profile at any time.

Collected automatically when you sign up

• The country your connection appears to come from, detected by our hosting provider. We use it to show a flag next to your name on leaderboards and in your profile. We store only the country code in your PuzzlePace account. We do not store your IP address as part of your account information.
• Whether you signed up from a phone or a computer, which helps us understand where the site needs work
• The page you arrived on, and the website that referred you if there is one

While you play

• Which puzzles you start and which you finish
• Your completion times
• Your daily streak and the date of your last completed daily puzzle
• Your experience points and level
• Ratings you give to puzzles. These are private and visible only to us.

If you create a puzzle

• The image you upload
• The title you give it
• Confirmation that you have the right to use the image

If you contact us

• What you write in the feedback form, and your email address if you provide one

If someone invites you to a private challenge

• Their invitation includes your email address so we can send it. If you never create an account, we delete the invitation once the challenge is over.

What we do not collect

We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party analytics service. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. We do not sell or share your information with advertisers or data brokers.

The only cookies we use are the ones required to keep you signed in. They are strictly necessary for the site to work.

About IP addresses

Our service providers may temporarily process technical information such as IP addresses in their server logs, for security, fraud prevention and normal service operation. We do not store your IP address as part of your PuzzlePace account.

Why we use your information

• To let you sign in and keep your progress
• To show leaderboards, which display your name, avatar, country flag, city, time and streak to other players
• To operate the daily challenge and calculate streaks
• To understand how people find PuzzlePace and whether they play, so we can improve it
• To reply to you if you contact us
• To send you emails, only if you asked for them

Emails

We send optional emails only if you choose to receive them when you sign up or enable them in your profile.

You can turn them off at any time in your profile, or by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email we send.

We may also send essential emails related to your account, such as password resets and important account messages. These are necessary to operate the service and cannot be opted out of while your account remains active.

What other players can see

Other players can see your display name, avatar, country flag, city if you added one, completion times, rank and streak.

They cannot see your email address.

Your country and city are optional. If you leave them blank, nothing is shown.

Who processes your data

These providers process data on our behalf, under contract, and cannot use it for their own purposes.

Our database is hosted in Canada. Our other providers may process data in other countries as part of delivering their service.

How long we keep your information

We keep your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide PuzzlePace, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. When personal information is no longer needed for these purposes, we delete or anonymize it.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from your profile page.

When you do, we permanently delete:

• Your profile, email address and display name
• All your completion times, which also removes you from every leaderboard
• Your puzzle ratings and play history
• Your login credentials

Puzzles you created stay online, including the images you uploaded, so that other players do not lose their own times on them. We remove the link between those puzzles and your account in our database, and your name is no longer publicly associated with them.

This cannot be undone.

If you prefer, write to hello@puzzlepace.app and we will do it for you.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

• Show you the information we hold about you
• Correct it
• Delete it
• Send you a copy of your data
• Stop sending you emails

Write to hello@puzzlepace.app. We aim to respond within one month.

If you are in Québec or elsewhere in Canada and you are not satisfied with how we handle your request, you can contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

If you are outside Canada

PuzzlePace is operated from Québec, Canada. If you use it from another country, your personal information may be processed and stored in Canada.

Depending on where you live, local privacy laws may give you additional rights. Contact us at hello@puzzlepace.app to exercise any rights that may apply to you.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you also have the right to object to processing, to ask us to limit it, and to complain to the data protection authority in your country.

Age

PuzzlePace is intended for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we learn that a child under 16 has created an account, we will delete the account and the personal information attached to it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will tell you by email or on the site.
